Rutherfordton, Spindale, Forest City
These three contiguous small towns lie in the Isothermal Belt of relatively mild weather created by the mountains to the west. This temperature inversion gives the abundant farms and orchards of this beautiful hill country a real advantage. Steeped in history, each of these towns offers its own distinct version of place and time and purpose. Visit each town to discover its particular identity and cluster of small businesses !

Todd
Todd, like so many other historic small mountain towns, owes its existence to the river and the railroad. Today neither provides Todd with the robust economic engine they created in the past, but this rural community remains as beautiful and independent and determined as ever to provide good livelihood opportunities for its residents while protecting its "golden goose" - the mountains, river and farms. Treat yourself to an afternoon concert in Todd or to a float down the river or to some sweet bread pudding that is guaranteed to create an addiction!!
