Pincu Pottery
ceramics
Elise makes functional pottery from terracotta clay and fire in an electric kiln. Her work synthesizes a love of the outdoors – particularly the mountains, flora and clay dirt of her home – and love of handmade objects and food. It is Elise's intention to have Pincu Pots used as well as displayed, and for the pots to add pleasure to both the eyes and the hands.
Ms. Delfield studied at the University of Florida under Linda Arbuckle and Nan Smith for undergraduate work. Afterwards, she briefly studied with Joe Molinaro at Eastern Kentucky University and at Penland School of Crafts and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Elise did post-baccalaureate work at Cleveland Institute of Art with Judith Solomon and Bill Brouillard as well. After schooling, she worked as a studio assistant at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania and as an artist in residence at the University of Miami in Florida.
She has been making pottery since 1995 and for the past two years has been a ceramics instructor at Southwestern Community College.
